And Now for Something Completly Different

We are all so very caught up in the day to day workings of this thing we call reality.

Each of us feels that we have found the answer based on our religion, spirituality or belief system.

Our greatest solace is associating ourselves with others that feel the same as we do.

Even tho' we may not mean to, overtime this practice leads to exclusionism.

Why are we afraid of creating and believing in our own basis for morals, spirituality and religion?

With 5 working senses, including a keen eye site, a sharp mind and our drive to perceive, we feel that we have a thorough understanding of reality and all that that encompasses.

Each branch of religion, spirituality and mysticism is at odds, at least on some level, with all the other branches. Each claims a certain thoroughness of understanding and/or acceptance that the others lack. IOW, each group sees itself as the truest way to an insight as to the nature of our existence and how best to participate with it.

Our 5 senses are mental/physical constructs, evolved over time, that allow us to perceive and interact with the world around us.

Our bodies and minds have evolved physical attributes that interact with our reality and a conscious mind to interpret what our bodies are sensing.

Our bodies have also evolved the pathways that allow the perception of the information being sensed to be transmitted to the part of our mind that is capable of making sense of those perceptions.

However, what we see, feel, hear, smell and taste in our environment has to be de-coded by our sense organ, that info has to be transmitted thru our bodies to the correct center, or centers of our brain, and then has to be re-coded so that we may have a mental image of the world around us.

But what we see, hear, taste, smell & feel is not the actual environment around us. It is a mental construct of what our mind has evolved to perceive of the world around us.

IOW, what we perceive of the world around us is not the real existence; it is a mental picture our mind has created (a sense-a-round movie) so that our conscious selves can comprehend and make sense out of what is going on.

I am not saying that reality does not exist, merely that what we perceive as reality is merely a mental picture locked away in our brain. Our personal interpretation of reality. Not reality itself.
What we perceive as reality is only what our blindly flailing senses tell us and our brain deconstructs.

Remember we could cause the same sensations if we hooked our brains up to a really smart computer and pumped this info directly into our brain. It would not be able to distinguish the info being perceived from info sent in from our eyes, ears, tongue, nose and hands!

Are our perceptions limited?

Let's take seeing as one example. We see the world as it exists. Not really. We see the world as well as our eyes are able to capture images of the world around us. However our eyes are extremely limited in our ability to see. What we see as light is only a very narrow band of wave-lengths that go all across the electro-magnetic spectrum. This band of EM energy covers the full spectrum from infra-red to ultra-violet. Some other animals can see other spectrums that we can not and they, in turn, can not see certain things that we perceive.

But we are blind to the vast majority of the EM scale. We can not sense it at all. If it were not for our minds and the machines we have created that can sense these other bandwidths we would never know that they exist.

This is the same with each of our senses. How much more exists in reality that we have not had the where-with-all to discovery that our minds and bodies are totally blinded to?

And what things exist in reality that we are so blinded to that we can't even conceive of their existence, simply because we do not have the capacity to imagine them since we have never been able to sense them?

What else exists in reality that we don't even know to go looking for?

The more I examine the nature of how we know anything about existence, the more I understand that I am too stupid to even know what I don't know and don't have a clue how to ask the question to open the door on other perceptions that I am not aware of.

What about the thing we call a sixth sense? Is it real? How do we know. So many scouff at that notion, but maybe it is only the rudimentary evolution of a new sense that is just evolving.
Maybe it is a catch-all sense to help us understand other parts of reality where our first 5 senses are inadequate.

What about ghosts and metaphysical things? What if they are simply the same as magnetism and electricity as we understood them only a couple of hundred years ago?

What if we are evolving sense organs that will open up a whole new vista on reality that we had no clue is out there?

I guess the moral to my story is that we are stupid to think that all of existence can be explained away by our brains. We will be stunned over the next hundreds or thousands of years to find whole new areas of existence we had no concept of. But right now it is laughable whenever anyone makes a statement to the fact that they have a thorough understanding of our universe or god or spirituality or whatever! We are too limited by our perceptions and to stupid in our thinking to have even put a small scratch on the surface of reality. What we have yet to uncover, we can't even put into words. We are too arrogantly stupid to possibly fathom how arrogantly stupid we are.

So the next time someone tries to tell you that they have everything figured out, simply have a good laugh and savor the absurdity of the moment. The court orders say you can't kill them and it's not worth spending your life in prison just to win an argument with an idiot.

And pull the corn cob out of your ass. I am saying nothing here against god, nature, religion, metaphysics, spirituality or anything. If I did, wouldn't that be icing on my cake? (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) I think that we should keep ourselves open to whatever is out there that we can't comprehend.

I am afraid that all of our knowledge of existence that is shared with us thru religion and spirituality is simply magic. VooDoo! We have learned some tricks and incantations that seem to do us some good; in most cases. And if we stand on one foot and pour chicken blood on ourselves at midnight while saying the lords prayer we will force whatever god or mother nature or whatever to bend to our will and have to shower us with blessings we feel we deserve. All of our religious/spiritual practices are done to bend existence/god to our will and make them perform like puppets.

There is no magic. Just stuff that looks magic until we can fully understand what they really are.
I can't say if you and I see the same colors, hear the same music, taste the same flavors or smell the same perfumes. Now we all agree enough, for the most part, that we all seem to be having the same experience. But our experience is in our minds and each of our minds are different. Each of us are different. And each of us are barely scratching the surface of existence.

Sure, we've created some rules in societies about how to act, love, feel, make money, run governments and play one-up with the next person; and see where that has gotten us? We're not smart enough to conquer diseases, do away with poverty or stifle the stupid. How do we think we can understand existence or god?

An Infinite Foam of Parallel Universes

So, every quantum event generates a new parallel universe (PU) based upon the number of possible quantum states that are capable of having probable outcomes; and a new PU is generated for each possible outcome within each probability distribution. Examples are, orientation, spin and angular momentum. Therefore an infinite number of new parallel universes are generated at every instant of every moment.

So, do we pre-suppose that we are on the ultimate quantum ride and that the new PU’s are generated according to our arrow of time based upon the happenstance of our existence within the framework of the totality of all possible, infinite PU’s (IPU) or multiverse (MV)? Or, should we suppose that the IPU or MV already exists and our perception of reality is based upon a random happenstance of our cognition of our existence w/in an arbitrary point of time w/in a particular PU somewhere in the matrix of the IPU/MV?

Is all of existence already defined within an infinite matrix of quantum probabilities and their connectivity to the infinite number of new PU’s generated at each quantum moment? So that every quantum probability is already defined w/in this matrix from the creation of all existence to the final annihilation? Which begs the conclusion that all of existence is already defined and ergo all existence is predetermined? There are no conscious decisions being made, there are only predefined paths within an already existing matrix of quantum possibilities and our current state has been defined by events on the quantum level and we only have the appearance of determined thought. If there already exists all that is possible w/in an IPU/MV then the appearance of conscious thought is only the culmination of infinite quantum probabilities and the appearance of choice when compared to another PU spawned earlier in the matrix (based on the apparent arrow of our time) and the possible outcomes that can be derived along another of an infinite number of paths that our parallel selves (P/Egos) could have followed.

And does there exist anything outside of our IPU/MV which can decode the matrix of the totality of our existence (TOE). Would we call this god?

Faith and Belief

A Good Friend once told me "Optimism is never empty,..It is always loaded with hopes and possibilities, and when there are possibilities, everything is possible....Have Faith in God and in yourself...and everything will be fine". I tend to disagree, and here is why......

I have seen empty optimism and it is worse than pointless in that it can be destructive. Hopes and possibilities are intangibles, just like wishes and dreams; and they too can be destructive if that is all we have. And I think that it is BELIEF in God, not Faith. Faith is something he expects us to have and it is an Action Verb; it is something we DO! I will argue this point with anyone. If we have faith, then we have committment and a vision and nothing will stand in our way. It may be your Belief in God that gives you the Faith but you are the instrument of Faith! Faith is not believing that God will smite your enemies. Faith is smiting your enemies because of your belief.

Too many people say they have faith and then they sit on their thumbs waiting on God to deliver. We shouldn't get lost in our dreams, we have to wake up and live in our Faith. And Faith and Belief are two separate things and we should never confuse the two.

About the Author and why he rants and raves so much:

I have come to accept the fact that my personality, as defined by the military, is “Shock and Awe”. Some of us simply have the gift.

I feel that all of our learning’s and interactions over the course of a lifetime should be an abrasion of course personalities. Honing each of us into polished gems of existence.

But first our core personality must be made of solid rock; able to withstand abuse, erosion, chipping and wear. We must be able to turn inside ourselves for our solace and foundation. And what we, as individuals, can not endure can be conquered when we all come together to form a dam of resistance and change.

However, a lot of people are not afforded a solid “personality of being”; or they have it torn away at an early age; never to see it again.

We are born existential creatures. From an early age our self knowledge is very incomplete; as we grow we build shells, and covers and blankets and hidey-holes. Once cognizant, our goal is to whittle away the veneers revealing the gem in all of its facets.

But what if we could skip the “battle preparation” stages when we erect the walls and the DMZ’s and the blockades and the moats? What if all of our interactions were loving and caring and nurturing and pruning and growing?

What would be the possibilities?

Vague expressions of optimism:

We are at a point in history where everything is affordable and accessible via software and the Internet. There is no excuse for not producing. Our only roadblock is ourselves.

We do not appreciate what we are born with. Few can comprehend the magnitude of what we take for granted. What are we instilling in our children? We must lead them and help them understand.

Prologue:

I see this as Religious Liquor (Moonshine). I have distilled out the unnecessary and left the essence of the truths (spirit) that all great religions are trying to teach us. Spirituality becomes a necessity only in the eye of the beholder. Those with no craving for the overwhelming power of an all encompassing spirit may practice these routines like yoga.

No Sense of Self

What do I mean when I say that I have no sense of self?

Everything is an unconscious reaction; just like a finely tuned, well honed athlete. There is no conscious thought or effort involved.

All conscious thoughts that are worthy of acceptance are already assimilated into the unconscious.

There are no fears, doubts, judgments, biases, agenda’s, or anticipatory thoughts.

Our consciousness is able to take a “back seat” to unconscious thought. Our consciousness can then apply our conscious knowledge onto the core essence of our unconscious “purity of thought” to form a meaningful phrase, thought, re-action or interchange with a 3rd party.
Our unconsciousness holds the purity of our inner being. It is up to our consciousness to mold our unconsciousness into a positive essence.

It is the sole job of our consciousness to fine tune and mold the accumulation of our unconscious knowledge. It always looks inward and works on the unconsciousness just like a gifted mechanic fine tunes the running of an engine. It is the job of the unconscious to directly interact with our outward environment.

We mold the unconsciousness through prayer, meditation, self-talk and focused introspection.
Once our unconsciousness is purified we can freely allow the vocalizations of our core being to speak through the accumulation of conscious thoughts so that we may have as “pure as possible” an interchange with another human, as close to “soul to soul” interaction as can be possible within human existence.

Once we lose our sense of self, our soul is able to freely interact with the world around us without fear, guilt or hesitation.

At this point we will be able to make unconscious decisions, such as trusting our gut instinct; and we won’t have to be conscious of the reason why.

Then there is no “Hindsight” or self doubt. Mistakes can and will be made, but only from the purest of motives. We then assimilate what we have learned into our unconsciousness and begin the process anew.

Our soul is ever growing and evolving.

But Captain; how do I make it so?

Focus daily on the things that will build us into better individuals. This is a basic re-hash of everything that you have ever heard from “The Power of Positive Thinking”.

Meditate and introspect (meaning, search deep within yourself) on a daily basis to verify positive aspects that need to be kept and negative aspects that need to be eliminated.

Pray continuously. Whether to God, a supreme being or out loud in your head. In this way you can be your own best friend. Your own shoulder for you to cry on, laugh with and turn to for guidance. Just hearing the words aloud (even in your head) gives you the time and the “where with all” to examine afresh what you are thinking. Listening to yourself thinking aloud can trigger new thoughts and responses. And say them out loud, if at all possible; using the auditory system lends an air of “someone else talking” that you can’t get inside your head.

Surround yourself with positive, creative, spontaneous, thought provoking, world shattering, dynamic individuals. Sometimes the best thing that you can do for your mind is to shock it out of complacency.

Be open. To new thoughts, ideas, situations, whatever. Keep a childlike perspective on daily living. Sometimes you should turn over the rock; just to see what is underneath.

Study, learn, think, debate, critique, evaluate, rate, accept nothing at face value, deny nothing due to your own ignorance, prune whatever is unnecessary, cultivate what needs maturing and assimilate that which helps you grow.

Daily Thought to Live by:

You can never take “What you do” too seriously. However, the easiest trap to fall into is taking yourself seriously, at all.

Perfection: By beginning you have already arrived.

We are not on a path to perfection. We are perfect. Accept it and let’s move on.
Perfection is not an “end game”, it is how we chose to play.

We are not perfection “wan’na be’s” waiting for death or heaven or whatever to make it so.

We are there now; perfect in the moment. We are simply dealing with some issues, cleaning out some mental closets, throwing away the mental trash. Perfection doesn’t mean obtaining god like powers of perception. It is a continuous process; we sharpen the blade a little keener, clean out a few more of the cobwebs; there will always be the trash.

But we do all of this from a state of perfection; that continuous process to remove the clutter. But perfection it is (or at least the best that can be attained in our existence). There is no ideal perfection existing from which all other existence derives. Unless you believe in God (and be careful, even that needs discussion).

This is our deepest longing to interact with others at the purest level possible; to freely and totally communicate our essence. It is our willingness to do so that makes us perfect.

Synopsis:

There is nothing new here that any good religion can’t teach you. You will find most of these principles sprinkled through out every major religion.

I have merely removed the spiritual tenets that are particular to each religion.

I have formulated a basic matrix or methodology of activities that are “key” across belief systems.

Basically I have removed the “why” and left the “how”.

What good is any of this without a supreme being? Basically that it still works anyway! Again, I am focused on the how. You can have a god if you want one; but the system was designed to run smoothly without a rudder (or with only You having your hand on the till).

If you practice on a daily basis; you will get results. You will achieve your goals. You will have inner growth.

In the end there is every possibility that you will be driven to re-examine (or examine for the first time) your spirituality. That is a personal choice.

However, the mechanism is in place; the machine is running. I offer only the crudest of maps.
Here be dragons.

Epilogue:

There will never be an epilogue. I will never sit in Rivendell and re-live my days while writing “There and back again”. It is a journey and one day it will end. Hopefully I will have spread enough seeds of meaning that the work will continue. Don’t stop now, there is another page.

Don’t stop now, there is another page.

I AM!

Amazing!

I am amazing! I am what I AM!

I hope you ARE!

I am not a great many things. But what I am, I AM.
I am not trying to be anything; that means I am not.
I hope to be many things, but I am not those, yet. When I am ready, I will.
I am what I am; right now!

When I decide to change what I AM today, I WILL.
It will have already happened. The past!
No fears, no doubts. History.

This is now.

When I decide to BE, I WILL!

Then I AM! Again; or still.

Do not try. Have faith. BE!

Take stock. Re-assess. Do!

Remove the useless.

Cherish the valuable.

Obtain the necessary. But the whole time, you ARE!

Simplicity, not simple. Effort; introspection, soul searching, prayer, meditation, patience, time, agony!

Mania!

No sleep; little rest. Change the world until it is a reflection of the image of your soul!

I am.

Consciousness

The Illusion is what I deal with every day. I can't delineate between conscious and subconscious mind/thinking. Which is why I think consciousness is illusory. When we are most in the Zone/Flow or Stream (what I call it) we are thinking and reacting without any need or impedance of conscious thought. It appears to me that conscious thought is only necessary to shape the perspective, or collective information storehouse, of the subconsciousness. Which means what we call consciousness is merely an evolutionary trait that has proven effective at honing the capability of the subconscious mind. Because our mind functions best when consciousness isn't engaged. Conscious vs. subconscious is a man made delusion. And the terms themselves, as we have been using them, are meaningless since both are just 2 inseparable parts of a whole.

It would be interesting to see (a thousand years down the road?) how much more this evolutionary trait has adapted and what benefits can be gained. Just like in technology, which has created things we could not, or just barely, dream of a hundred years ago. What will our minds be capable of? Or is there more capability to be had? Are our minds much different from our ancestors of 2500 years ago? Or have we just learn more tricks?

The Tao is still around and hard to argued with, even to this day.

Unconsciousness

What do I mean when I say that I have no sense of self?

Everything is a subconscious reaction; just like a finely tuned, well honed athlete. There is no conscious thought or effort involved.

All conscious thoughts that are worthy of acceptance are already assimilated into the subconscious. We filter the thoughts as they come to us.

There are no fears, doubts, judgments, biases, agenda’s, or anticipatory thoughts.

Our consciousness is able to take a “back seat” to subconscious thought. With every interaction we use the core essence of our subconscious “purity of thought” to form a meaningful phrase, thought, re-action or interchange with a 3rd party.

Our subconsciousness holds the purity of our inner being. It is up to our consciousness to mold our subconsciousness into a positive essence.

It is the sole job of our consciousness to fine tune and mold the accumulation of our subconscious knowledge. It always looks inward and works on the subconsciousness just like a gifted mechanic fine tunes the running of an engine. It is the job of the subconscious to directly interact with our outward environment.

We mold the subconsciousness through prayer, meditation, self-talk and focused introspection.

Once our subconsciousness is purified we can freely allow the vocalizations of our core being to speak through the accumulation of subconscious thoughts so that we may have as “pure as possible” an interchange with another human, as close to “soul to soul” interaction as can be possible within human existence.

Once we lose our sense of self, our soul is able to freely interact with the world around us without fear, guilt or hesitation.

Then there is no “Hindsight” or self doubt. Mistakes can and will be made, but only from the purest of motives. We then assimilate what we have learned into our unconsciousness and begin the process anew.

Our soul is ever growing and evolving.

Perfection?

Basically we are the accumulation of all that we have experienced up to now. All the basic frameworks are in our subconscious and our learned reasoning to act on the frameworks is in the conscious. However we also carry a lot of baggage stored in our mind. Fears (failure, embarrassment, flying etc), ego (which has fear and bullheadedness as a part), self doubt (lack of belief or faith) etc that normally pervade our decision making process. We should strive to balance our holy trinity of conscious, subconscious and body in a balance (just like our passions). When we breakdown the negative self talk, build up our positive image/self talk and have our body pure and burning clean we can achieve perfection.

By eliminating all fears, self doubts, politics, emotions, worries and preconceptions we can fully engage our conscious and unconscious selves in a state of perfection for that given moment. By our natures we can't achieve anything greater than the totality of all our experiences will let us. However in perfect harmony we can react in the moment with a perfection of our cumulative ability.

We must also remember that when we view another person or any experience, we view it from within the framework of all we know (think we know, or have accumulated). We have to make a conscious effort to remove our predilections and experience the moment without a sense of self. This means that the only way we can grow is thru interaction. And the only way we can truly experience a person, thing, sensation or situation is by removing our ego and striving to empathize with the experience autonomous from ourselves.

Perspective

Looking back on my early formative life, running around with my close friends from High School (Tony, Bhert, Sal, Hole, Belar and Frog) what defined us was that we really enjoyed life and were a fun and diversionary group. We also took nothing for granted. We went out of our way to find new ways to look at everything. We challenged the ordinary. But never with meanness or hatefulness. A process of challenging everything and taking nothing for granted. Look at everything from a fresh perspective.

A sense of Community

What is community? What is disassociating us from the rest of the world? Previously community was people in close proximity to us, usually a homogenous blend of folks that you had in villages, tribes, small towns, cities or neighborhoods. People that tended to associate closely with each other because their beliefs and ideals were closely aligned with each other. They all shared a lot in common and there was a protectiveness about the community. This means, at least overtly, that everyone tended to think, feel and act alike. Just like in Fraternities, Sororities, Elks Clubs, Masons etc.

You tend to group together with people that offer some sense of security and that think so much like you. But the problem is that you are not truly allowed to think outside the boundaries; to expand parts of your intellect or psyche that is looking for something else. You will not be allowed to do it within the context of the community if it is seen as abnormal by a majority of the group.

Today we can view our community as the world via the internet. Reaching out and touching and building bonds via cyberspace. But there is no personal interaction; no hugging, no touching, no physical contact. No feeling or sense of close community by sitting next to or seeing individuals on a daily basis. No looking people in the eye, reading the body language, reading the face, understanding the truth of the personal connectivity that is going on in that moment. And this leaves us cyber-isolated.

Those w/in close proximity may not provide the psychological stimulation that we need; they may actually hold us back from what we want to do. We have a dichotomy between the people close to us that we feel frustrations with and the people cyber-separated that we cannot see and feel. The people close to us may not be comfortable with some of the personal areas that we are exploring and those cyber connected that share our same desires for growth may be so far away that we could never physically visit them.

The next phase of what we would view as community would need people in close proximity that share close personal connections and gives us our feelings of humanity and need for human contact and allows us to explore (cyber-wise) our desires for personal growth and expansion on the web with people that will never be able to give us the personal touch.

Faith - Short Version

Faith is a myopic rage. It is single-mindedness of purpose; a disbelief of reality. And rage at what doesn’t exist; with maniacal concentration on shaping reality to fit our point of view. Faith takes no prisoners.

We are our Art!

We are each the artist that paints our soul. At birth we are an unpainted canvas, or a lump of clay waiting to be shaped and molded. In our early years, prior to the age of accountability, the point where we become conscious creatures taking full responsibility for the course of our lives, the basic foundation for the work of art we are to become is shaped by our parents, friends, family, school and others. Once we become conscious we still have a decision to make. We can relinquish our responsibility and allow our being to be crafted at the hands of every interaction we experience, allowing existence to define who we are and will become. Or we can grab the brush and paint the picture we envision in our dreams. A picture only we can fully experience or enjoy and that others will have to appreciate through us. Yet still a picture that can blind the eyes of the unconscious masses, those who have allowed their being to be dictated to them; simply by catching glimpses of the wondrous beauty that is expressed by a picture painted at the hands of an individual, unique in its expression of a life crafted like no other. A picture of our soul. We are each given an opportunity; a responsibility. A life and a mind; the palette on which we paint. It is never too late to hold the brush.

Consciousness

Our consciousness exists merely to craft and fine tune the workings, and totality of our unconscious mind and thoughts. When we use our conscious mind to interact with the world (i.e. people, things and experiences) we are clouded with fear, uncertainty and doubt based on our perception of reality or of what we feel others may think of us. Our unconscious mind is the collection of our self perceptions, biases and accumulation of knowledge. Once we have rid our unconsciousness of fear, uncertainty and doubt, we can interact with the world with no sense of self, where we are acting from the purest expression of our essence; our souls. We exist in the moment without any expression of fear, uncertainty or doubt. We are the keepers of our own souls.

Perfection

Absolute perfection, from a universal POV, is complicated. I don’t believe in Plato’s archetypes. I started to write that we can be perfect at every moment of our life by being and doing the absolute best in that moment, given the accumulation of our life, thoughts and deeds up to that point. But this seems to imply that we all strive for a measure of perfection that is still reconciled against the totality of purity of all human thought, deeds and emotions. It implies worth; that our life has no meaning outside of a comparison to the norm. It also implies a value assigned to the worthiness of our efforts. IOW, my life is more perfect than yours based on a value of 1 to 100 and ranked according to the data provided from a “sum of all lives”. You could also say that we are all perfect at any moment simply because we are where we are at any instant. We are the perfection of what we have become. But this negates any definition of bad, good or perfect perfection. There is no worth and no way to assign a value. I want to add consciousness to the equation, but is an animal not perfect in what it does? Are only the most agile and nimble hunters considered perfect? Is wile and dexterity the mark of perfection that an animal is measured against? And what about us? Is it consciousness that gives us the ability to strive for or be perfect? Or should we be judged only on the basis of our animalistic instincts? And would that imply wile and dexterity or ruthlessness and cunning? Does our consciousness separate us from the animals? Is it our soul? Does our soul or consciousness reside apart from our physical mind? Our consciousness is an amorphous shell that is created from the inter-working of our brains chemicals, synapses and neurons. It ceases to have meaning when our brain ceases to have life. So, where is the soul? But I have thoroughly digressed, this was to be an essay on perfection; but sometimes the minds ability to think, question and understand gets in the way. I thought I had a concept of perfection until I started to type. I think I may still do, but it has more to do with taking consciousness out of the equation by a conscious effort to negate ourselves. At least the selves we have created as a shield to help us grind through daily life. But it is our consciousness that helps to shape and define our unconsciousness. Without the ability, responsibility or fortitude to shape our unconscious thought we can never call our unconsciousness perfection; random would be a better word. But this conjures up thousands of more thoughts and I am out of time. Thoughts such as, consciousness vs. the soul and using consciousness as a tool to free our subconscious (soul?) to interact perfectly with the world. But isn’t subconsciousness also a creation of our physical mind? Or is it a connecting point? And then, with what?

Guideposts

Maybe my purpose is to be a guide. To lead you on an adventure to a new perspective on life. And if you need me as a guide, you are a sad, sad person. But with that being said....

If you want to learn to swim; get in the water. You have to take that first step, you have to get your shoes on; you have to be motivated. You are not going to do anything by sitting and contemplating. You have to plot a course and take the first steps; the rest will come naturally.

Passionate Living

To fully live the passion in our lives we should be constantly teetering on the brink of insanity. Pressing the edges of the envelope of life and experience if we are to enjoy anything new. We should be always on the brink of insanity without going over; almost delusional in our desire to pursue and enhance our passions. To our own vision we are utterly sane but driven to continue our pursuit. To those in the middle, we are mad, crazy, maniacal and obsessively compulsive. There seems to be no reason to our desires.

Down the Stream

Our life and our passion is a journey down that stream. There is no goal; we obtain and/or create all that we can accomplish before we die. At times we are rushing over the waterfall; such exhilaration, completely alive (and glad to be). Then we are porting the dry areas with all of our gear in our pack and our canoe on our shoulders; trudging over the rocks, sweat pouring, back aching, not enough food, water or rest. Then we are the beavers, building dams to stem the flow and creating pools of stillness, abundance and beauty. Where we may rest, grow and ponder until we again become restless and break the dams to enjoy the rush of once again riding the rapids.

Stream of Living

Life is like a stream. Depending on where you on The Stream it maybe deep and wondrous, or shallow and sparse; slow moving and meandering or rapidly cascading over rocks and falls and passing thru deep gorges. We can view it as a swimmer trapped in its currents; forbidding and scary, an accident or fatality waiting on us to make a mistake. Or we can view it as a kayaker; a wonderful playground where we can paddle the rapids, spin in the eddies and jump the waterfalls. An exhilarating rush where we test our mettle against all that it can throw at us. It is all in our perspective.

I AM!

I AM!

Then I AM!

Do not try. Have faith. BE!

Take stock. Re-assess. Do!

Remove the useless.

Cherish the valuable.

Obtain the necessary. Then you ARE!

Simplicity, not simple. Effort; introspection, soul searching, prayer, meditation, patience, time, agony!

Mania!

No sleep; little rest. Change the world until you see your soul!

I am.

What am i?

I am a Motivational Speaker; Inspiration Consulting is my business. Perspective re-alignments; scattered, smothered & covered with humor.

No stone left unturned.
Windmills tilted.
Dragons battled.
Kings clothed.
Left is right; up is down.
The only surety is the the uncertainty principle.

The game is afoot.

Right now the only ones that can hear it are the other voices in my head; my stream of unconsciousness. Quite an audience; very opinionated. I am learning alot.

As of 11/06 my introverted pastimes will become part of the global extra-net. Be afraid; everything you thought you knew is starting to un-ravel.

E-Ticket, baby!
You must be this berserk to ride this ride!

C U N A whole, new light!

Shock and Awwwwww

I have come to accept the fact that my personality, as defined by the military, is “Shock and Awe”. I realize not everyone is the same; I am the exception that proves the rule. I have come to this point by “hook or crook”; not down a purposeful pathway. Yet I have learned a couple of things.

All of our learning’s and interactions over the course of a lifetime should be an abrasion of course personalities.

Their is no spoon

Sports people are goin in the right direction; but “be the ball” suggest something you are trying to do. Trying is a continuous process. It is a path one follows; wandering. “I am the ball” is conviction; faith. It is not a process or a path; you are. Until we understand through conviction or faith that we are something, we will always be in a process of wanting to become.

With faith we are able to take an honest look ourselves. We can then understand our strengths and weaknesses and take stock of what we lack. Then we are driven to turn weaknesses into strengths and fill the gaps with skills that we need. Faith is a mania; there is no room for failure.

Through faith we are what we believe ourselves to be. I am the ball. There is no spoon.

Wise Man

No one has ever confused me with a wise man. Well that’s not entirely true. When I was a Southern Baptist Preacher people always got confused. That’s a good thing. Every good Preacher wants to cause a little confusion and consternation. If no one’s confused, then no one’s listening. But they’ll keep coming back; the fear of hell is a wonderful way to fill the pews.

But it scared me to realize people accepted whatever I said as the “word of God”. I am not God and am not delusional enough to think so (with all apologies to Jim Carey & George Burns). People would come up to me after a service and tell me they didn’t know that was what the Bible meant. I told them that’s how I see it based on where I am in my spiritual growth. You need to go home and think about it and decide if it was right for you. They always had the funniest expressions on their faces. There’s that darn confusion again. I felt that they came to church to be told how it is; not to think about it. What good is church if you have to think? Isn’t it outlawed in many congregations?

As a ministerial student I met with my counselor (who just happened to be the Chaplain for the college) to discuss some concerns. How I was supposed to preach the truth to a congregation when I wasn’t sure what it was myself. He told me that we were on one big happy journey seeking God; that I had to share new truths with my flock that jived with what they were able to understand. This would keep from shaking them off their spiritual foundation. But that I should sprinkle in a few new ideas to help them grow; and would only make them a little wobbly.

I told him I understood but had one burning question; what if I was wrong? What if when I stood before the Pearly Gates Saint Peter told me that not only was I going to Hell but I was taking about 150 people with me (I like having company)?

I must’ve confused him because he had the same funny expression on his face as my congregations. I appreciated him telling me he didn’t have a good answer for that one; that thought hadn’t crossed his mind. He tried to console me with we are all responsible for our own salvation and make decisions on what to believe. I thought that was a lot like saying it was OK for me to feed them poison but it was their choice to die.
This was the first time I put serious thought into the fact that I might be in the wrong profession.
